Founded in 1998, the Chama Valley Humane Society is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) organization supported entirely through fundraising, private donations, and grants.

Our mission is to provide no-kill solutions to reduce the population of homeless cats and dogs by sponsoring a spay and neuter program for companion pets and feral cats, working with regional shelters and foster homes to rehabilitate and rehome animals, and educating those in the community we serve about responsible pet ownership.

We are always in need of Foster Homes.  Foster homes makes it possible to save other homeless pets.  There is nothing more rewarding than opening up your home to a homeless pet, taking care of it's needs, then finding that perfect home to spend the rest of it's life in.

If you would like to open your home and your heart to a homeless pet, please complete our Foster Application.

Finding loving families for our rescues is the most heartwarming part of our work.

Tucker was part of a litter of puppies from Dulce.  He was adopted in August by an Al-buquerque family and is enjoying life with his family, which includes an older dog also rescued from Dulce.

Missy was rescued in Chama earlier this year.  She now lives in Albuquerque with a loving family and a new big sister, Daisey, who is also a rescue cat.  She loves playing with Daisey and with her many toys.

Read more about these two rescues on our
Happy Tails page.
